Today we will tell you how to turn on end-to-end encryption in Telegram and start a secret chat on Telegram. We explain step by step how to use secret chats with Telegram with the official messaging app on iOS or Android.
One major difference between WhatsApp and Telegram is that you cannot take a screenshot within a secret chat without obtaining permission from the sender and recipient of your secret chat. The image is displayed in the background because Telegram does not allow you to take screenshots inside the secret chat, but only outside.
Telegram groups are end-to-end encrypted, while individuals “communications are only supported by secret chats. While WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption by default for all chats, group chats can only be secret in the event of a secret message. Without them, your messages are not visible to anyone except the sender and recipient of the secret chat and therefore not accessible to anyone. Although Telegram has found a way to keep group chat secure, you cannot support secret chats outside Telegram groups.
In addition, secret chats are not part of the Telegram cloud and require permanent storage on your device, which Telegram Desktop and Telegram Web do not currently support. Secret chats on Telegram can only be accessed via a mobile phone or tablet and are not visible on the desktop or web browser. The absence of secret chats is explained in Telegram’s FAQ, but you can still access them from your phone, tablet or computer via Telegram Web or desktop.
Telegram also offers users the ability to activate secret chats that allow them to exchange messages that are fully end-to-end encrypted. To enable you to fully end-to-end encryption of your chat, you can opt for something like a secret chat on Telegram.
If you don’t enable and use secret chats, Telegram stores your messages in its local cloud, which is encrypted. If you do not use a secret chat, it will be found that all messages backed up in Telegram’s Cloud are also encrypted, even if they are not in your private chat.
To provide a higher level of security, all messages are encrypted and decrypted by the device that is connected to your chat. This is the case with normal Telegram and WhatsApp chats, but for secret chats you have to go through the sorting server and go back and forth between your private chat and the public chat on your device. In addition to a high level of security of your messages, they encrypt and decrypt messages.
If you have an iPhone or iPad with Telegram installed,
you can start a secret chat by opening the app, clicking on the new chat icon in the top right corner, pressing the “New secret chat” button and selecting the contact you want to exchange messages with.
If you don’t and open the app and click on the “New Secret Chat” entry, then start your secret chats by clicking on “Secret Chat” at the bottom right of your chat window, or by pressing and pressing an entry like “New Secret Chat” and then selecting the contact you want to exchange messages with.
If you don’t, but have an iPhone / iPad without Telegram installation, start the secret chat by opening your app and clicking on the top right under the “New Chats” icon and selecting the contacts you want to exchange messages with, then “Private Chat.”
Here you have to select “New secret chat” to start a secret chat on Telegram, and then “Private chat.” To start the “Secret Chat” on your iPhone, right-click on the new chat icon in the upper right corner of your chat window, select “New Secret Chats” and select “New Secret Chat.”
The secret chat on Telegram is an encrypted feature, which means that the chat that takes place here is stored in the cloud, not on your device, but in a private cloud. In addition, Telegram does not include the ability to exchange SMS or voice messages in secret chats in Telegram can not be downloaded or stored on the device. Messages from the secret chat are only stored on the devices of your interlocutors, and don’t forget the Telegram cloud itself.
Telegram does not have E2EE by default, so you need to use the Telegram function for secret chats to activate it. Telegram says that if you want even more encryption, you can use secret chats that are end-to-end encrypted, just like WhatsApp. Secret chats are stored on the server, while normal chats are stored in the cloud, causing Telegram’s servers to disappear without a trace.
It is not possible to capture the contents of the secret chat, but when the story is deleted, the message remains visible to the recipient. Secret Chat on Telegram also offers a timer where you can set a time for self-destructive messages. Users can enjoy secure E2E chats – encrypted chats with Telegram’s secret chat function, which allows them to make messages disappear after a predetermined time.
You can also set the time of self-destruction when messages and multimedia articles should be sent in a secret chat in Telegram and also on Android.
